Aaron Horkey

Known as part of the burlesque design team, Aaron Horkey impressed me with his unique typographic style and detailed illustrations. After looking at his work I started haunting the cover arts his done for bands ( more affordable than his actual prints). This silkscreen artist has work for bands from Flight of the Conchordes to the Forensics. I grabbed myself one of the Melt Bananas LP and is currently sitting on my wall. My next Horkey buy will definitely be a Forensics vinyl.

the thread

Since I've been hanging a lot in the threadless shirt site, I've been looking around a few artist that every month, get a tee printed. One of them is Alex Solis, who is a very talented fellow that nails almost every design he uploads to the site.

APU CLO

I few days ago my bf got me this shirt that I wanted for quite some time. This line is called Apparalleluniverse Clothing. The guy behind the line, does everything on his own, conceptualizing, drawing it... everything. He really has a great line and his illustrations are the kind to show off in a wall. He's launching his collection very soon, so keep posted for this. Click on the image to see more.

hard blue

I guess that the only times I'm ever gonna own or even see a pistol
would be this ceramic ones made by Yvonne Lee Schultz.
Wonderfully made.
The Porcelain Pistols are replicas of James Bond’s Walther PPK and its contemporary sister, the P99,with friendly permission of Carl Walther Inc.The fragile weapon, hand-painted in the style of classic tableware motifs, liesnext to your coffee and cake, asking to be picked up. Its coolness andcomfortable grip increase the qualms of the user, leaving him in a quandary between the pleasure of luxury and violence.

Cardenas

"Not the square, the triangle or the circle: the face is the most elementary shape. It is the primordial form, the first we learn to see, recognize and re-create. In all cultures we find innumerable images of faces: as portraits, but also as essential representations of the human being in general, as universal archetype. The face, then, is also the most sensitive, the most expressive image, where every transformation echoes in our soul. In recent contemporary art we often find transformed faces of great impact, reflecting the questioning and search for identity in a complex, global, cross cultural reality."
